Dave Lupton

a.k.a Crippen – Disabled Cartoonist

Dave lives and works on the Isle of Wight with his wife Helen and Cockapoo Murphy.

Apart from providing cartoons for disability equality training and for the many groups and organisations of disabled people around the world, Dave also writes for Disability Arts Online (DAO) creating articles and cartoons based upon the social model understanding of disability.

He is currently working on the Crippen Cartoon Resurrection Project where he is updating, and in some cases redrawing those grey-scale cartoons he created back in the 1980’s and 90’s. These cartoons will eventually appear on a dedicated gallery on the DAO website available for download.

Dave is also currently working with his Manager, Alison Smith on an Arts Council Funding application. This will be to host an exhibition of his work on the Island and Portsmouth, before taking it on a nationwide tour of art galleries. These will include Bristol, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast.

His latest work is A Life Well-Lived, a collection of photos and stories of people across Nebraska highlighting their stories from the past 50 years. These are photographs and stories of those who might be unremembered in the rush of history.
